2016 Winter-Spring/Summer Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Awards
DEADLINE: Applications and proposals are due no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday November 20, 2015.
Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Awards
The Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Award enhances opportunities for you to participate in research and creative activities under the guidance of faculty. You can submit a proposal for a project sponsored by faculty with whom you will collaborate. Research projects focus on developing and testing a hypothesis or theory using methods relevant to one or more academic discipline(s). Creative projects develop new materials -- artistic, literary, educational, or physical -- by methods other than those traditionally considered “research.”
Applications and proposals are due The Friday before Thanksgiving for research beginning in the Winter semester and continuing through the Spring/Summer semester. The funding announcement occurs in mid-January.
Applications and proposals are due The Friday after Spring Break for research beginning in the Spring/Summer semester and continuing through the Fall semester. The funding announcement occurs in mid-May.
UROP funds accepted proposals up to $3,050 each. Up to $2,300 is awarded to the student(s). When more than one student is involved, funding will be divided equally among the students who submitted the proposal.
The Wayne State University Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Award funding is officially considered financial aid. If the award amount exceeds your total remaining unmet needs, it may impact the overall amount of financial aid you receive or alter your financial aid package.
Faculty mentors receive $750. Although faculty may mentor more than one project, the maximum payout is $750 per award period.
